This catalogue presents good reproductions (many on full-page plates) of 41 paintings, prints and drawings produced by Picasso during his visits to Avignon in 1912 and 1914 and in the course of his residence in a chateau near Arles, where he lived with Jacqueline from 1959 to 1961. Four short essays discuss the artist's sojourns in Provence and the influence of Jacqueline and the Arles bullfights on his late oeuvre, and brief descriptions accompany the illustrated works which include Cubist still lifes and figure studies and a variety of landscapes, bullfight sketches and bacchanalian prints.
