Documenting an ambitious show based on the infamous "Entartete Kunst" exhibition organized by the Nazi government in 1937 as an indictment of decadence in modern art, this noteworthy publication presents more than 170 paintings, sculptures and graphic works by leading German artists of the 1930s along with some 150 posters, films and related materials. Well illustrated with fine color plates and many previously unpublished photographs, the scholarly catalogue includes ten informative essays, biographies of some 50 of the 100 artists represented, a detailed cultural/historical chronology and an extensive room-by-room account of the original exhibition of some 650 works.
