Presents full-page reproductions of more than 75 paintings produced from 1946 to 1989 by Dorazio (b. 1927), a leading figure in postwar Italian abstract art whose explorations of chromatic rhythms, influenced by Pollock and Louis, have primarily taken the form of expressive compositions of bold parallel or intricately interwoven bands and threads of color. A critical discussion of Dorazio's career and achievements is augmented by six texts evaluating the stylistic progressions reflected in the featured works and by excerpts from the artist's correspondence and theoretical writings.
