Documents the first significant survey of the oeuvre of American sculptor Benglis (b. 1941), whose works, ranging from expressive totemic abstractions and poured polyurethane forms to wall-mounted compositions of pleated metals, reveal her interest in experimental techniques and materials and reflect her rejection of the inherent anonymity of Minimalism and Conceptualism. Full-page reproductions of some 40 sculptures dating from 1966 to 1990 are accompanied by extensive critical discussions illustrated with many additional works, and by annotated synopses of 14 videotapes by the artist.
