GEORG BASELITZ. Kunsthaus, Zurich, 1990. Organized and published in association with Stadtische Kunsthalle, Dusseldorf. 244 pp. with 157 ills. (116 col.). 31 x 28 cm. In German.
Especially notable for its full-page color reproductions of more than 100 paintings, this catalogue presents a retrospective overview of the oeuvre of German artist Baselitz (b. 1938), one of the most prominent figures in the revival of figurative expressionism in Europe during the 1970s. A substantial introductory essay is supplemented by seven brief texts on such topics as the artist's use of inverted figures, his recent sculptures and serial canvases, and the central motifs in his work since the early 1960s.
