This revised edition of Kampf's 1984 book Jewish Experience in the Art of the Twentieth Century was issued in conjunction with an ambitious exhibition of some 360 works drawn from dozens of international collections. The lengthy text examines the highly varied treatment of Jewish cultural themes and issues by a broad spectrum of modern artists, including Epstein, Rivers, Modigliani, Lipchitz, Soutine, Rothko and many other major and lesser-known figures.
