Offers an excellent pictorial survey of some 80 paintings, 100 photographs, 30 prints and other works by postwar Leipzig artists such as Werner Tubke, Arno Rink, Wolfgang Mattheuer and Bernhard Heisig; although dominated by images thematically and stylistically linked to Neue Sachlichkeit traditions, the selection also includes Neo-Expressionist canvases and experimental photographs. Texts discuss the 225-year history of the school with an emphasis on its central role in East German art since 1945.
