HAROON MIRZA: HRM199 LTD. Roland Wetzel. Museum Tinguely, Basel, 2015. Published by Snoeck Verlagsgesellschaft mbH, Cologne. Distributed in the U.S.A. by Ram Publications, Santa Monica. 408 pp. 24 x 16 cm. ISBN 9783864421297 In English.
Publisher's description: London-based UK artist Haroon Mirza's (b. 1977) atmospheric large-scale installations combine sound, light, film and video with found objects -- audio equipment, LEDs and solar panels -- and work by other artists to create an immersive experience that confounds and challenges authorship and spatial orientation. The artist's work to date, currently at the Museum Tinguely, Basel, is presented in this substantial catalog designed in the rhizome-like structure of Mirza's creative and practical interactions. Organized both along process-oriented chronological lines and cartographically, the catalog offers a sort of road map of the networked interactions that are a part of each project. Incorporating work by numerous artists such as Mattia Bosco, Alexander Calder, Jeremy Deller, Francesca Fornasari, Gaia Fugazza, Alexander Heim, Gary Hill, Channa Horwitz, Anish Kapoor, TJ O'Keefe, Guy Sherwin, Richard Sides and Jean Tinguely, Mirza's projects question perceptual distinctions and challenge the categorization of cultural forms.
