OP NO. 5: CULTURE CHANEL. Abrams, New York, 2013. 304 pp. 27 x 22 cm. LC 2013-936656 ISBN 9781419711367 In English.
On the occasion of a related exhibition at Palais de Tokyo in Paris celebrating the perfume Chanel No. 5 and its iconic bottle, which premiered in 1924, Dutch graphic designer Irma Boom created this unusual, Swiss-bound volume with embossed text and images "printed" entirely white on white, offering an ethereal tribute to the fragrance and to celebrated French fashion designer Coco Chanel (1883-971) herself. Note: this book is advertised by the publisher under the title Chanel: Livres d'Artistes, but that title is not imprinted. See also Worldwide 35648, an identically titled volume that was produced as the main publication for the exhibition. Note: this title was produced in a very limited quantity and the title was declared out of print soon after release, Abrams having received fewer than 100 copies for distribution in North America.
