Featuring reproductions of 20 little-known paintings produced by O'Keeffe (1887-1986) during a nine-week sojourn in Hawaii in 1939, this book tells the story of the encounter between the celebrated American artist and author Patricia Jennings, who as the 12-year-old daughter of a sugar plantation manager on the island of Maui hosted O'Keeffe for part of her stay in Hawaii, where she had traveled to produce two paintings for the Dole Pineapple Company's national advertising campaign.
