Representing the first modern reprint of Esquisses decoratives, an Art Nouveau design book by French architect and designer Binet (1866-1911) that was originally published in four installments between 1902 and 1903, this volume offers two new critical texts examining Binet's work in relation to other pattern books of the period and as influenced by the work of German biologist and illustrator Ernst Haeckel, along with reproductions of all 61 color plates from the original publication, including decorative schemes for furniture, lighting fixtures, wallpaper, brickwork, mosaics and other diverse architectural elements.
