Presenting flamboyantly idiosyncratic outfits assembled by American interior designer and fashion maverick Apfel (b. 1922) over the past two decades as part of her personal wardrobe, this volume was published in conjunction with an exhibition of the same name held in 2007 at the Norton Museum of Art, West Palm Beach, and an earlier exhibition titled "Rara Avis: Selections from the Iris Apfel Collection," held in 2005 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, but does not specifically document either show.
